Mission

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) provides programs focused on career development, scholarly activities, community-building, and mentoring relationships to postdoctoral scholars across all UNM campuses. OPA is the administrative home for postdoctoral scholars where they can access a variety of resources including training, education, funding, and networking opportunities; information on university policies; and assistance for international postdocs. We support and encourage postdoctoral scholars at UNM by providing these resources, along with a community, in an environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and access for all. The University of New Mexico Office of the Vice President for Research established the OPA in recognition of the importance of postdoctoral researchers to our research  mission.

" Postdoctoral scholars are an invaluable part of UNM’s research mission. Our fellows contribute and compete on a local, national and global level to foster the innovation and commitment to conducting cutting-edge research."
