Peer-to-Peer Mentoring
P2P Program Overview
The P2P program connects newer postdocs with those who have been at UNM for a longer period in a casual, unstructured setting. The purpose of this program is to:
- Facilitate the exchange of tips, ideas, and advice for navigating the postdoc experience.
- Discuss topics such as career development, scholarship, funding opportunities, and life at UNM.
- Foster professional relationships between postdocs.
Program Details
- Postdocs will be matched in mentor/mentee pairs (depending on the number of participants, it is possible that there will be more than one mentor or mentee per group).
- It is up to each group to determine, together, what structure is most effective for them.
- We recommend meeting 1-2 times per month for casual discussion over coffee.
- If you prefer different types of meetings or other arrangements, that’s perfectly fine as well!
- OVPR will reimburse purchase of (non-alcoholic) beverages with pre-approval.
We hope this program helps you build meaningful connections and find valuable insights for your postdoc journey.
Please also feel free to let me know if you have other ideas for the program. Send questions, comments, and pictures of you and your peer buddy to raqthomas@unm.edu.
